Documentary Screening on the MST (2/24)

The documentary, 'Strong Roots', about the Brazilian Landless Workers Movement and the struggle for agrarian reform in Brazil, will be shown at Sin Fronteras Bilingual Books & Cafe (911 Cedar Street) this Thursday at 6pm.
The Santa Cruz Friends of the MST will be showing the award-winning documentary, 'Strong Roots', this Thursday at 6pm, at 911 Cedar Street. If you are interested in social justice, sustainable agriculture and social movements, the MST is an excellent example of how to mobilize for change from the bottom up. Sin Fronteras Bilingual Books & Cafe is at 911 Cedar Street and the documentary will be followed by a brief question and answer period regarding Brazil and the MST. Join us.

URGENT update from an indymedia reporter in Brasil:

this is a desperate situation -- the police continue to bulldoze the area of the encampment covering up any evidence and bodies of the massacre -- the governor of the state promised to give the land to the squatters and now is back tracking but says the deadline for this decision is in a few days -- it seems like pressure from anyone internationally is being very effective
