Welfare in America: Institutionalized Woman-Hating

The current welfare system in America, run by state Departments of Health and Social Services (DSHS) agencies, is domestic abuse, pure woman-hating, and nothing else. It is very clear who women and children are here to serve. The welfare system has done as much dehumanizing of a population as any prison. Welfare workers (an oxymoron if I ever heard one) are as abusive and unaccountable as prison guards and cops. They seem to share that perverse enjoyment at watching others squirm and suffer too. And society acts like welfare moms deserve abuse, just like prisoners. The welfare system benefits business and men, not women and children.

Reagan and the Eighties

“…Homeless by choice.? Trees that pollute more than automobiles. “Facts are stupid things.? Outlawing the Soviet Union. “If you’ve seen one redwood, you’ve seen ‘em all.? ‘Star Wars’ missile defense system. Astrologers in the White House. “I’ve never played a governor.? “We begin bombing in five minutes…?

Never doubt that Reagan did some truly evil things. Every time I see a mentally unstable homeless person in California, and you can see a lot of them in places like my hometown of Santa Cruz, I think of Reagan’s deregulation of the mental institutions when he was governor. There are so many more, including claiming that Guatemalan dictator Gen. Efrain Rios Montt, was "totally dedicated to democracy" while he was wiping out villages in Guatemala. Allowing the CIA to mine harbors in Nicaragua. Approving of the atrocities in Argentina. Bombing Libya. The list goes on and on.

Corporate Power

According to the film The Corporation, a corporation is simply a psychopath: Lying, harming others and not caring about it, unable to learn from mistakes, and more. Biotech croporations are just that: harming and threatening farmers around the world, destroying biodiversity - and yet they describe themselves as selling "Food, Health, Hope". (interviews)

Some 17,000 people from biotech companies from about 60 countries are meeting behind closed doors for the annual BIO convention to set up more contacts, sell their ideas, raise venture capital and convince journalists and the public that biotech is just great. To spin pro-biotech PR, corporate journalists were provided with story ideas a week before the conference started, while Indymedia journalists were denied press credentials due to writing from an "activist point of view".

For corporate journalists, BIO2004 started out on Sunday with a media brunch full of GM food and corporate lies, promoting GM crops as the weapon against obesity.
