The Coastal Watershed Council’s Clean Streams program is currently seeking volunteers for stream monitoring in Santa Cruz and San Mateo County. The program will run from April to November 2004 in Branciforte, Aptos, Corrallitos, and Watsonville Sloughs (Santa Cruz) and in Gazos Creek (San Mateo).

CWC’s Clean Streams program trains volunteers to monitor local watersheds on a monthly basis. Participants will learn about their local watershed while gaining valuable skills monitoring temperature, conductivity, pH & dissolved oxygen and collecting bacteria & nutrient samples for lab analysis. The volunteer commitment is approximately 6 hours per month, and all participants will visit various locations throughout each watershed.

No experience necessary; all volunteers will be trained.

For meeting and training times, date, and locations, or additional information, contact the Coastal Watershed Council at: (831) 464 – 9200 or email at: volunteer (at)
Note: please indicate your stream choice in the subject line.
