Good pictures, please include thoughts or write an article.

write your own fucking article

Thanks for the compliment....

But, did you have to follow it up with a complaint???

Do you think I like having my photos here with no article to go with it?

Do you think i grow a little bitter at the lack of participation in this community news resource?

I got to the county building at about 9:15 and was looking for a 'rally' on the steps cuz that's what I heard was happening (i only heard about it the night before at the UCSC women's day event). Then, I found out the meeting was upstairs on the 5th floor.

This was my first ever board of supervisors meeting in any county.

I took almost a hundred photos that day at the meeting.

And, I do not even like taking photos indoors very much.

I went right home after the meeting and worked on editing, re-touching, re-sizing, and publishing these 30 or so photos from about 11 AM until about 5:30 PM with only taking a couple of very short brakes and eating a day old bagel. My head hurt from looking at the machine. My body even felt strange from having a laptop on my lap for 8 hours.

I show up at the meeting, take the photos, get them published on the newswire, and format them into a feature with little summary and some hotlinks.

Sorry, I'll work harder next time.

I'll take notes during the next meeting and take photos, maybe even record some audio....

Brian Seals and Bill Lovejoy got paid to write a story and take photos for the Sentinel.

I would link to the story right now... but, the Sentinel website has been down everytime I check it....

I've got to admit... I liked the photos in the Sentinel today better than mine (which were available a full 12 hours before the Sentinel's....)

And.... if I had taken notes and asked people their names, like Brian Seals did... then, I too could have written an article.....

But, I took photos instead.....

Of the hundreds of people that were at that meeting....
you chose to knock me for not writing an article.

If more people took part in Santa Cruz Indymedia, then SC-IMC would have nicer features and coverage etc....

But, you've got a summary and a bunch of photos instead.

Don't Hate The Media, Become the Media.

Indymedia is not meant for spectators.

Re: Peace Freedom Equality Love Honor Courage

It was not meant as a complaint, I wanted to hear what you have to say about it. Likewise, I've already read the stale review of the Sentinel and care not if you post their link.

if you want articles, stop censoring

"If more people took part in Santa Cruz Indymedia, then SC-IMC would have nicer features and coverage etc...."

If SC-IMC didnt delete so many articles in their blind and rabid enforcement of a strictly wishy-washy pacifist communist rich-white-male-hating agenda, if instead it allowed some actual.. gee, I dont know... DIVERSITY???.. of public opinion, you'd have more articles.

SC-IMC is a good mirror for Santa Cruz activism - all talk, little action, and even less tolerance for opposing opinion.

Good work, guys.

p.s. Bradley, the problem with your report is that your photos alone do not tell the story. And with no one else telling it, Im afraid all you've done is show us some meaningless (literally: conveying no meaning) shots of local politicos.

It makes for nice stock footage to file away for other reporters to draw from, but has no value in a public space.

There's a reason why the general public doesn't subscribe to the Reuters news feed, while journalists do.

Likewise, there's a reason why the Chronicle doesnt feature the Reuters news feed anywhere in their paper.

"A" for effort, but Im afraid you don't understand journalism yet. If you've got no story, you've got nothing at all.

censored... are you "all talk, little action"

Delete What Articles?
I'm an admin on the newswire and I do not know what articles you are possibly talking about. Care to explain?

Here's the link to hidden articles...
(which can be found below the newswires)

Just in case someone see's this thread without checking out the summary i put together, here it is:

On March 9, the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors meeting was filled with a couple hundred Santa Cruz County residents to advocate for Gay Marriage. Santa Cruz County locals have been asking the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors to follow the lead of San Francisco and join the lawsuit being filed against the proposed Federal Marriage Amendment banning same-sex marriages.

The community members present were happy when the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously (4 yes, 0 no, 1 absent) in support of asking Richard Bedal, the Santa Cruz County Clerk, to join the lawsuit being filed against the proposed ban on same-sex marriages. The Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors has no authority to order the independently elected clerk to act.

Sure, it is only a summary, but it was more than "censored" provided....

Why are we pointing fingers here????

Seriously, can we all just agree to MAKE MEDIA?

Hey "censored" please led by example and show me some 'journalism'

can't believe i have to defend myself for taking photos and not writing a story to go with it. ...for indymedia....

Funny that my photos are worth nothing at all to you "censored"

Here's a link I just came across.
I did not contact the CIW at all.

The CIW can write, "Enjoy these photos from the Indymedia Santa Cruz website."

But, "censored" writes, (regarding my photos) "no value in a public space" and "you've got nothing at all"

Steve, if it was not meant as a complaint...
then, no hard feelings ( ;

Please, do not even bother responding to my comments here!

Actions speak much louder than words.

Simply PUBLISH an article, some photos, etc.... etc... etc......
