Re: SYRIA OUT OF LEBANON AND ISRAEL OUT OF SYRIA

UN resolution 242 allows Israel to retain ownership of certain lands necessary for securing its borders.

When Israel did not control the Golan Heights, the Syrians used these positions to rain rockets down on Israeli civilian populations.

Hence, even under UN resoltion 242, Israel might not be required to give up these territories conquered in the 1967 war.

Congrats to Brian Avery!

I am very happy to hear that Brian Avery won his appeal in the Israeli Supreme Court to have his case re-opened.

At the time of his shooting, no true investigation was done as the IDF reported that "no incident happened." Brian deserves to know what CAN be known about how he was injured.

I hope the truth comes out.

Re: IDF Reopens Case

Becky Johnson, "I hope the truth comes out."

YEAH RIGHT!!!! That's a good one Becky, it’s hard to stop laughing at this false conciliatory gesture. The truth is already out, the question is will the Israeli government be forced to recognize it. Given the horrible record of the Israeli courts this is a doubtful prospect.

Horrible record of Israeli courts?

Israeli courts ruled that the separation wall was in a path that unduly impacted the Palestinian people and ordered 40 miles to be rerouted.

Israeli courts ruled that even in cases of military expediency, torture is not allowed. the only legal form of coercive treatment of prisoners in order to get information is sleep deprivation.

Now Israeli courts have ruled that Brian Avery has a right to a legitimate investigation of the facts surrounding his injury.

I know you HATE anything to do with Israel to the point you can't even say its name--preferring to call the Israelis "Hebrew-speaking people". Nevermind that Arabic is ALSO an official language in Israel.

But for you to blatantly condemn Israeli courts as having a "horrible" record without offering even one scintilla of evidence just shows your own knee-jerk hate reaction, and should be ignored by indyreaders.

You obviously have never read 242.

Re: IDF Reopens Case

For once, Johnson ...
but aren't you being unfair to the IDF.
You are in the habit of imputing actions to collectivities, eg., "The Palestinians said no," "The Israelis..." when actually it was individuals or units within these collective entities, who may or may not have sanction of official authority. If you claim to be The Voice of Israel in Santa Cruz, let's see you start backing your statements up with facts. Where is this alleged statement by the IDF. Or is it something you made up?

Re: IDF Reopens Case

Those who speak Arabic in Israel are not treated as human.

Nor do the courts give the people justice.

I, and others, have provided proof of these things many times.

Becky Johnson never provides proof for her endless stream of lies.

Re: Israel: Demolition of Palestinian Homes is Actually Feeding Violence Rather Than Deterring It

Becky Johnson: "In Santa Cruz County, if you build a house on land that you do not have title to, and build without permits, your house is gonna get bulldozed!!!"

Is Santa Cruz county refusing to grant permits to arabs? ... that's a crucial point you omit in the Israel case. Give a call to Jeff Halper of "the Commity against house demolition" for the details.

Becky Johnson: "Likewise, Israel has to contend with homes being used to house terrorists, bomb-factories, and snipers."

Maybe if the settlers settled farther away, like, say, in Israel rather than in the west bank and gaza... just maybe snipers wouldn't be a problem. Wouldn't you agree?

Becky Johnson: "Somehow you think Israel should have a different standard than eveyone else."

The problem is not that israel should have a different standard. The problem is that it DOES have a different standard. But after all I've read from you, I don't expect you to grasp such obvious matter.

Also, that a commission would have to be setup to study the policies of house demolition is laughable. It doesn't take a genious to realize that once someone is driven to be a suicide bomber out of despair, the matter of house demolition isn't going to be of any concern to him/her.
