On February 25, the Santa Cruz City School Board approved plans to rent out Natural Bridges elementary school to
Pacific Collegiate Charter School. This decision came only a month after the board voted to close both
Natural Bridges and
Branciforte elementary schools.
Parents, students, and other concerned people packed a room on Wednesday night (Feb. 25) to speak out against the plan to rent out Natural Bridges. Speakers were only given 3 minutes each before being cut off at the mic in mid sentence. Pacific Collegiate Charter School has been criticized as being an elitist school that caters to the white and affluent.
