Emergency Grand Jury Teach-In

Enemy Combatant Radio broadcasts live from Station 40, San Francisco

At least ten local activists have been subpoenaed in the last week to appear before a federal grand jury convened in SF. In recent decades, the federal government has increasingly used the grand jury to intimidate and harass activists pushing for social justice.

Any well watered pot in the Santa Cruz area is likely to sprout Liverworts.

Come eat and be part of a community-led resistance to the discriminatory policies of military recruiters, who target communities of color and the poor to fill the ranks of our armies. Challenge the military machine, which is putting a generation of youth in harm's way, even as opportunities for higher education are being cut and underfunded. We must come together to learn about what we can do to get the military out of our schools, and build strong ties as youth who are ready to be the change we wish to see in this world.

George Cadman of Free Radio Santa Cruz 101.1 fm interviews Alli Starr about the upcoming World Environment Day June 1-5 in San Francisco. Alli Starr is co-founder of Art and Revolution and of the Art in Action Youth Camp. She is currently working with the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights on the organization's events for world Environment Day.

On May 27, the fourth annual Youth and Power event took place at the Veterans Memorial Building in Watsonville. The theme was "Youth Empowerment Through Art, Education, and Music." About three hundred people, mostly teenagers, enjoyed an evening of music, dancing and great food!
