NYC IMC SUPPRESSES INAUGURAL CRITICS

Never have I seen this on Indymedia. I've contributed 100s of articles to Indy and have been paid for words in print. Question is who is the MORON that got hold of the NYC newswire: and label the following as- and here's good laugh -

Presidential Approval Hits 50 Year Low: Iraq Not Mentioned

It took a Scotsman to do the statistical analysis: the word freedom was used 27 times in Bush's inaugural address and Iraq was not mentioned once. Now that Abu Gharaib is admititted to be the closest thing to the contemporary US prison model we have exported how can we claim to be spreading freedom throughout the world?

Last week, when the supreme court struck down mandated sentences, David Souter, a George H. W. Bush appointee, stated frankly that sentencing guidelines had overwhelmed our prisons - in many cases with individuals who did not need to be incarcerated.

Is this the Land of the Free?

Real time reports of any protests at the inaugural are scarce. (let's hope the reporters haven't met with the same fate as Al Jazeera) Some reports can be had at http://dc.indymedia.org

The report from The Scotsman is probably typical of the jaundiced view that the world is taking of this military spectacle: although the FBI has stated there is no recent increase in the threat of terrorism, the display of military hardware and elaborate security precautions is unprecedented in scale.

Ironic that the city of Washington DC will have to pay the $15 million price tag out of their homeland security grant: the expenditure of the "grant" was controlled by the inaugural committee: read RNC

No surprise that this president has set a 50 year low water mark for the popularity of a re-elected president on inauguration day - without a mention of it on this side of the Atlantic.

Will anyone have the nerve to compare the spectacle to the military parades so prominent at political events during the regimes of Kruschev and Stalin?
Here, sadly you have the truth, well substantiated and brazenly presented - at

Re: NYC IMC SUPPRESSES INAUGURAL CRITICS

Funny, I just found your article on the NYC Indy newswire.

You can stop complaining now.

I actually think it's even funnier now: especially since I went back and PURGED MY ARTICLE from their data base.
My point is that they I've experienced real-time censorship on the NYC newswire more than once - and I might add that it began approximately the same time as the first serious trouble in Fallujah: when J. Paul Bremer closed down the newspaper El Hawza. I also found that you can wait awhile (somewhere between 2 and 48 hours) the newswire will begin to behave normally.

My point is, I have seen other newswires, bbs systems, forums, newsgroups under siege for purely political reasons so many times that the behavior of the NYC wire indicates to me that is is periodically compromised.

You'll note that the dc site was not capable of posting anything in the hours immediately after the coronation. Hard to say why with certainty - but take a good guess. Politics.

I personally will not stand for the compromise of 1st ammendment rights now when it is most important for people to speak out and be heard. So - I take offence and your use of the word "complaining". I happen to be in Santa Cruz at the moment - what I post will be here on on my own sites: unless it's an item related to the local activities elsewhere.
