I'm proud of the kids. I have been concerned about this generation for a long time. They didn't seem to get politically active until recently. They are true Americans. They know the recruiters are going to lie to them and try to get them over to Iraq to be fresh targets. I would like to see this protest extended to the atrocities that are going on in Iraq - but, hopefully, that will be integrated into future protests.

Congratulations to those who had the courage to expose the deceptive military recruitment. It's time the people realize it's not about patriotism. It's all about sophisticated manipulation.

So, they denied other students the right to gain information about military service. If it was a leftist group of individuals providing information, they would have rioted, if 300 concervative students had blocked them from entering. How pathetic to deny the 1st amendment rights of others, paid for by veterans from the past and the present.

Just tell recruiters you didn't like the fact that the Republicans at the RNC were wearing "Purple Heart Band-Aids" and that's why you, your family, or any of your friends won't sign up. That's what I said to the recruiters at ASU. Let that one go up the chain.

I agree that without recruiters that would increase the chance of a draft. But they have no place on a college campus. My hat is off to those students who have to guts to stand up against this horrid war.

So these kids are using their freedom of speech that has been protected by our military for generations, and they are blocking other organizations freedom of speech? The people who deserve that right more than anyone! And why not allow them on campus?! They offer amazing job opportunities. How dare them disrespect my heroes! If it weren’t for those brave men and women their ridiculous acts would not be allowed. I am just glad that I am through that childish “rebellion� age! GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS and GOD BLESS AMERICA!

I wouldn't really consider invading another country that was in no way a threat to America as protecting America. I call it having your life thrown away by rich fuckers who couldn't give a rats ass about anyone but themselves.

You're probably right, so typically the poor and/or uneducated are targeted by recruiters, which provides the cannon fodder for our irresponsible invasion, and the general population can go on living their lives because they, and their kids, don't have to go get blown to bits on the other side of the planet.

What it comes down to, is if our military can't provide enough bodies for the suicide bombers to blow up, then our society as a whole has to consider this 'war' more throroughly. Either we have to pull out, get other countries to help out (haha), or institute a draft. All of which are bad news for supporters of this war.

God bless these kids. Having served in the military, I have to say that it was honestly the worst experience in my life. I was treated like absolute shit while I was in and tossed away with all the fanfare of a used condom after discharge. Pretty typical I guess. I'm proud to say that I participated in the NYC protest last August and wish I had more time to be active nowadays. Given the fact that the military is coming up short on its headhunting quotas(according to various alternative news sources)I am confident that the message is finally getting through to this often naive and/or brain dead society! Keep it up Santa Cruz!

Thank God there are intelligent people out there that are also brave. For those of you that think it's our military that gives us our freedom your only half right. It in fact takes the brave souls whom are willing to stand up and speak out against the military establishments atrocities when its unpopular to do so who secure the other half of freedom. As for a draft without recruiters... open your eyes and take notice that the chicken-hawk neocons and their awol leader have only begun to beat the war drums. Have no doubt about it there will be a draft either way. The question is, how many will go? I sure as hell won't I'm staying right here to protect my country from this neocon regime so that when our troops do come home they will have a country similar to the one they thought they were fighting for.
One last tid bit the real conspiracy theorists claim that our military failed to protect our nation on 9-11. This the greatest military on the planet was substandard and 19 cave-dwellers were able to penatrate our borders and attacked our "most secure military facility" after already having attacked our largest structures in our biggest city. Is that really what you believe? So do me a favor and before you talk about supporting our troops think about the "official story" that claims our troops to be incompetent. While you let the coward that occupies the White House whitewash his own crimes against your fellow citizens. Building 7 wasn't hit by no damned plane!

No way is it "free speech" to sign up kids to kill and be killed over oil. These fuckers needed to be tossed and the school admin should have figured that out on their own. BUT, RIGHT ON to the people who did toss the recruiters. GREAT JOB. GREAT EXAMPLE!

who killed a wounded and unarmed Iraqi? If that's the kind of "brave" soldier you are referring to, then by all means, count me out.

NOTE: I find it truly disgusting that the marine in that video was cleared of all charges. What clearer evidence is there than a video tape providing audio/video of said crime? Despicable. Truly despicable.
