Interview with Larry Templeton on Tues Sept 10th. Apparently the 4 month old Santa Cruz Service Corp homeless camp experiment at the Mt. Calvary Church in Aptos
santacruz.indymedia.org/front.php3 is under attack by county bureacrats.
Campers have been requested by their church hosts to vacate by Oct 1st, to protect the church from massive fines for such things as failure to install fire hydrants on the church-owned property.
Meanwhile, the offices of the Santa Cruz Service Corp which arranged the current legal encampment, were approved by the City Council for bulldozing to make way for construction of a new homeless shelter.
Larry, founder and leader of the original Camp Paradise outlaw homeless camp that was flooded off of the San Lorenzo river bank last winter
santacruz.indymedia.org/front.php3 after a year of conflict between campers, and the City Council and SCPD.
Switching gears, Larry now says he's tired of diplomacy. He intends to recruit up to 100 new campers, with the intent by Oct 1st to non-violently but illegally occupy a new, unspecified piece of city land for his next outlaw homeless campground, "Safe Haven".
