California Anarchist Prisoner Solidarity (C.A.P.S.) Presents:

(see included PDF file for a printable flyer)

A film screening to benefit Jeff "Free" Luers, eco-defence prisoner.

Featuring the films:

Dave Gilbert : A Lifetime of Struggle

An interview with one of the longest held anti-imperialist political prisoners in the world. He is currently serving a seventy five year sentence after being convicted on a conspiracy charge for his participation in a Brinks truck hold-up aiming to raise funds for the Black Liberation Army in 1981. His imprisonment occurred after a decade of clandestine struggle as part of the Weatherman Underground.

Tortas Ahogadas

Documentary on Guadalajarais resistance and repression in Guadalajara during the 3rd Latin American, Caribbean, and European Summit on May 28, 2004. 4 people are still in jail following those events.

Documentary on Jeff "Free" Luers

A longtime forest defender who was sentenced to more than 22 years in prison for burning three Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) at a car dealership in Eugene, Oregon, and on attempted arson charges. Jeff set fire to SUVs to call attention to climate change and to protest oil wars and environmental destruction. Despite the fact that this action hurt no one, caused only $40,000 in damages and the cars were later resold, Jeff was sent to prison for a sentence considerably longer than those convicted of murder, kidnapping and rape in Oregon state. Jeff is an anarchist political prisoner and continues to write and agitate for his release while imprisoned at Oregon State Penetentiary. His appeal was filed in January 2002. Legal costs for Jeff’s appeals will be in the tens of thousands of dollars and help is greatly needed. Learn more online at freefreenow.org.

Friday May 6, 8:00pm, at the Next Door - 1205 Soquel Ave. right next to the Rio Theatre.

Sliding Scale admission. All proceeds collected at the door will go toward Jeff's legal defense.

Re: Film night to benefit eco-defense prisoner Jeff "Free" Luers (5/6)

22 year prison sentence is criminal. Bush can start a illegal war, kill over a thousand men, women and children, totally ruin the country of Iraq and turn around and get elected president.
Jeff needs our support.

Great way to call attention to an issue!

Hey Jeff! Good idea! Next time I want to focus public attention to something, I'll just grab a can of gasoline and go light up!!!!!! Glad you thought of it!!!!!!
Oh - and thanks for preaching to us while you're in lock up!!
Obviously you are there because you are The Real Deal. You are a Committed Comrade! You are the guy with the Brass Balls!

So we will listen with rapt attention as you direct us all like lemmings over the cliff.

Let's not waste our time getting a degree in Climate Studies at UCSC!
Let's not waster our time writing detailed analysis of global warming!
Let's not debate and discuss and organize.
Who needs to do all THAT - when there's always a book of Matches !!!
(Bow and a twirl of the hand.)
Thank You Sahib for Leading the Way!

thats right. you can write all the analysis you want, and still be ignored.
you can debate and discuss all you want, and nothing will change.

Yea, things like, don't change and stuff. Dude, lets like, burn stuff. Dude.

Linking to Derrick Jensen, oh NOW! I see! It's all clear to me NOW!

Hey - nothing a shock of brown hair on that oh-so charming fella won't do...if it's someone ugly or ? that unappealling Lynn Stewart-look, count me out.
But hey - you put a sharp looking dude like Derrick Jensen on the poster, why that's a horse of a different color. Why, he even looks a little bit like John Mayer, the obnoxious creep soft-rock star who makes girls swoon while he f***s over his own staff.

I'm there! If Derrick says its OK, it MUST be OK! Because he's not all that bad looking!!!!

But, my gay weakness aside, are you sure you are sure that it is a good idea to "blow up" a dam...I thought we could like vote environmentalists into office...in fact -- Derrick hones in on (druuum rooollllll pleeeaase...) Elected Officials!!!!!!

Gee Derrick, if the Problem is All Because of Slade Gorton did the Thought-Ever-Cross-Your-Mind that maybe Just Maybe he could have been VOTED OUT OF OFFICE?????????

OK I got it Jose. Voting doesn't work. Let's see then what Derrick is all about...

I quote:
To assassinate Slade Gorton and Larry Craig, for example, two senators from the Northwest whose work may be charitably described as unremittingly ecocidal, would probably slow the destruction not much more than to write them a letter. Neither unique nor alone, Gorton and Craig are merely tools for enacting ecocide...

Etcetera
OK so Gorty won't get the "treatment"...
Does DJ mean to say, "yet"??????

Oh, thank you...my Peanut Gallery here at the internet Cafe where we suck down lattes (because after all, for the cost of a latte-a-day we could End Global Warming because Matches are Cheaper than Lattes')

The Peanut Gallery informs me that Derrick Jensen means to say that whacking Gorty is a nonstarter all on account of the fact that It Would Not Be Practical. It Would Not Work Too Good.

OK, Thank You Mister Jensen for clarifying that point.

Thanky You. Why, for a minute there, we thought you might have something called a (drum roll)

Broad Strategic Vision for Non-Violent Resistance
But - Nah. Just, it wouldn't really work too good. OK. Meanwhile, it's back to the Hitler-assination analogies and...it is Eco-Cide they are committing...like Geno-Cide....so .... we must Mobilize Immediately and Clean our Guns because The Apocalypse Is Imminent...and even if it is not Time to Whack the Senators it is Most Definitely Time to Burn the SUV's so make those checks payable to the Jeff Leuers Zippo Fund.
Conclusion- Sorry Jeff! No support. Renounce Violence - then come talk to me.

Re: Film night to benefit eco-defense prisoner Jeff "Free" Luers (5/6)

"Whatever Happened to Pacifist Anarchism, Non Violent Anarchism and Philosophical Anarchism?"
Apparantly, they've become nothing but petty authoritarian ideologies that condemn everyone who dares to DO anything, because they're actions are "violence" or "anarchy." No, Revolution is not "all about arson." Revolution is not about making everyone live the same way, act the same way, think the some way. It's about diversity in life, actions, and thoughts. It's about nothing being a waste of time, if you really want to do it. It's about "every means necessary," using pens and swords, books of words and books of matches, all together.

Re: Film night to benefit eco-defense prisoner Jeff "Free" Luers (5/6)

Funny, I thought it was about some guy who burns stuff down because he did not get his way.
