Tent University at Colorado College

This article is both an invitation and an announcement of Tent University at Colorado College, a 24 hour social forum and arts festival to be held from noon on May 13th through noon on May 14th. The event will also be held in solidarity with the Santa Cruz comunity.
Our version of Tent University is not a mirror image of the Santa Cruz actions for many reasons, most importantly because it is being highly
encouraged by our administration, but it is an act in solidarity with the Santa Cruz community. It will be an open space for creativity, dialogue & activism. All are welcome. Please share the news of this event with others.

Below is a brief description of the event.

TENT UNIVERSITY COLORADO COLLEGE
Friday 13th to Saturday 14th of May, 2005.
Dialogue ∙ Solidarity ∙ Art ∙ Food ∙ Performance ∙ Community ∙ Celebration ∙ Activism

Tent University Colorado College is a respectful space for dialogue, action and expression through art, workshops, performance, teach-ins and purposeful celebration created by a student motivated collaboration with the broader community.
We have chosen the medium of Tent University, a 24-hour camp out, in part as a symbolic expression of solidarity and support for the students of UC Santa Cruz, whose acts of free speech and non-violent protest were suppressed through violence and intimidation.

We, the students of Colorado College have come together to organize a forum with the explicit objective of creating a space for dialogue. In this endeavor, we envision an exchange of ideas in the spirit of furthering our understanding of different perspectives and exploring our own convictions. To these ends, we would like to invite you to participate in this landmark event. We have chosen these themes to be explored through dynamic, in-depth events:

• The Media
• Education
• Micro / Macro and Alternative Economies
• The State
• Religion and Science
• Social Justice

We invite you to participate in any or all of these forums. If you have any suggestions about the types of issues that you would like to address, please contact us.

The event will begin on Friday May 13th, 2005, at NOON on Armstrong Quad, CC campus, and continue until noon on Saturday May 14th.

If you would like to participate, please RSVP to tentuniversitycc (at) gmail.com ASAP.

Please include a brief description of the topics and questions you wish to address. Some events may include moderated discussion, workshops, and presentations; please indicate your preference. If you would like to request additional materials or equipment please provide a facilities request in your RSVP. In addition, please indicate if you have prior engagements on Friday to ensure that we can accommodate as many people as possible. To ensure that the organization goes smoothly and that you get the most out of Tent University Colorado College, we urge you to please RSVP as soon as you possibly can. If you have further questions please do not hesitate to email tentuniversitycc (at) gmail.com.

We look forward to your presence at the event, and eagerly await your reply! Please do not hesitate to invite your friends and family, this event is open to everyone who would like to come!
