On Tuesday, May 10, the Student & Worker Coalition for Justice will be holding a "Hoedown for Clerical Wage Parity!" to bring awareness to fact that UC pays clericals at UC Santa Cruz 8-20% LESS than at campuses with comparable cost of living (i.e. at UC Berkeley), as if Santa Cruz was still a "rural campus" as it once was, with a low cost of living.
COME ON DOWN!
From 11:30am to 4:30pm, we will be out at the Quarry Plaza, in front of the Bay Tree Book Store, with hay bales, straw hats, and pitchforks. The square dance will be from 11:45am-12:45pm.
"Swing your partner & doe-see-doe, wage disparities have got to go!"
The Hoedown is also to publicize the TEACH IN that is happening this Wednesday evening from 7-9pm. Below is more details about the Teach-in.
Please join us there too!
*** The National Low Income Housing Coalition recently reported that Santa Cruz County is the fifth "LEAST affordable county" in the country to be a renter! *** So then why do these gross wage disparities exist for Clericals at UCSC?

The AFSCME strike was a huge success, largely due to the solidarity, strength and unity of all UC workers, students and community allies. While it is a time for celebration and congratulations, we must remember the struggle is far from over.
Thousands of low-wage Clerical Workers (CUE) and Technical Workers and Reseachers (UPTE) are still currently fighting for fair contracts.
All Students, Staff and Allies are encouraged to attend!
Sponsored by the Student & Worker Coalition for Justice, CUE Local
