Some UPTE Strike Photos
All around the state, the University Professional and Technical Employees (UPTE) working with the University of California staged a one-day strike to protest UC's bad faith bargaining, anti-union actions, and their lack of a contract. UPTE employees do important research trying to cure such deases as AIDS and cancer, yet due to UC's poor treatment, have a high turnover rate, harming their research.
There was strong support and solidarity by other unions (especially CUE, UAW and AFSCME) and students through the very-active Student and Worker Coalition for Justice (SWCJ).

Students act in solidarity with workers by picketing through the crosswalks at the base of campus.

These buttons are worn widely around campus - especially by students.

I was only present for a short period of time, so these pictures do not necessarily represent the events of the entire day.
