Yea push away jobs and any increase in tax base. If I were watsonville I would be begging Walmart to set up shop in my town. They would get more jobs and more tax revenue wich would help watsonville provide more services. Oh im sorry I guess this makes sense.

Go away, anonymous corporate lackey, and take the Wal-Mart with you.

WAL-MART Destroys Local Businesses

Wal-Mart is notorious for actively, intentionally destroying small local businesses around the country (and the world).

So while Wal-Mart brings in a bunch of jobs, it simultaneously destroys at least as many.

And the jobs it brings are TERRIBLE.

And think of all that "tax revenue"! Typically, Wal-Marts push for "deals" with the local communities they locate in, whereby Wal-Mart pays no/reduced taxes for X number of years. In many towns, when the "tax-free" deal expires, Wal-Mart literally packs up shop and moves to the next town over.

Yeah, who'd want to support local businesses that will keep the money in the area, when instead we could have THE LARGEST COMPANY IN THE WORLD suck cash out of our community like an industrial-strength shop-vac?

Oh im sorry that I demand a selection at a resonable price. I guess thats too much to ask the mom and pop stores that dont have any selection and higher prices. Then I guess if you have money to burn then who cares

I Deserve More Than Them

Really, all I care about is a big selection at a cheap price.

Fuck decent wages and living conditions for workers, either locally or internationally! Just make damn sure that get a broad selection of disposable crap for "cheap" prices.

I don't really care that those cheap prices are purchased on the sweaty aching back of some 12-year old in bangladesh or some 18-year old in Watsonville. Just gimme stuff.

Fuck Social Justice!
Fuck Living Wages!
Fuck Locally Owned Businesses!

I DEMAND A LARGE ARRAY OF THINGS TO BUY.

>I guess if you have money to burn then who cares

I resent the implication made by "PAY UP" that those who would oppose Wal-Mart must be well off.

If you take a look at the various towns around the country that have rejected having a Wal-Mart pollute their community, you'll find a lot of poor/low-income folks... people who know what it means to be stuck in a shitty little town where the most powerful employer around is a giant, oppressive, soul-sucking corporation.

Many people who oppose Wal-Mart don't have much in the way of money or options, but they realize that Wal-Mart isn't going to improve things for them individually or for their community.

Que chine su madre el Wall-Mart, no good.

Re: Pajaro Primero... Stop Walmart! Mon. 7/18 Mtg 6pm Join us!

I'm opposed to a Walmart in Pajaro for environmental, traffic, and quality of jobs reasons. I would like to get involved.

"I'm opposed to a Walmart in Pajaro for environmental, traffic, and quality of jobs reasons. I would like to get involved."

You obviously don't spend much time in Pajaro. If you cared at all about the "environmental", you might get involved and come by and help pick up all the used diapers, dead cats and chicken shit.

To all Chicken Littles,
The sky will not fall if Walmart comes into town....

If the people of Pajaro and Watsonville want a Walmart, let them have it. What in Pajaro would be effected by it's presence? As far as I know, Walmart doesn't offer carnitas, auto body repair or illegel drugs.

Change is a good thing people. Embrace it get left behind.

Speaking of change...Labor movment, your next. You guys do nothing for the money that you steal from honest labor. You guys are ust worried that your members might want to work at Walmart more than in the fields all day just to earn enough to put rice and beans on the table and pay union dues.
Lets have a meeting to throw these extortionists bums out...later I guess.

Re: Pajaro Primero... Stop Walmart! Mon. 7/18 Mtg 6pm Join us!

Politically incorrect is not politically incorrect, he is a racist and his comments show he has never been to Pajaro.

Sure, Pajaro *does* need cleaning up, but it is not because it is full of chicken shit and dirty diapers. This is a racist slur alluding to stereotypes about people of Mexican descent. If he really was from around Pajaro, he would know that it is an amazingly clean place considering many of its residents are payed below minimum wage working agriculture. (When I was paid similarly, I didn't give a second thought about my environment. I was too busy trying to get by.) My experience has shown me that, in general, farm workers have an incredible work ethic and oftentimes their children have a high degree of success in work, school, activism etc., despite the roadblock of low income.

The things that actually need to get cleaned up in Pajaro are polluting pesticide practices, labor violations and human rights abuses.

Bringing in Wal-Mart to Pajaro will only multiply the above problems, not solve them!

Re: Pajaro Primero... Stop Walmart! Mon. 7/18 Mtg 6pm Join us!

Racist, I love it! I love the tactics used by those who cannot stand on the facts. The fact is, you have no idea what color I am, and because what I say threatens your utopian sense of balance and equality, you resort to name calling to discredit the truth.
Truly the racist is the one that plays the race card to win an argument. You are the one that thinks I was even refering to Mexicans with my comment "used diapers, dead cats and chicken shit". I am refering to the poverty that exists in Pajaro and how a store like Walmart will attract paying customers and property and sales tax, thereby getting a little more cash flowing in southern Monterey Co. By the way, I am in Pajaro at least 3 times a week.
I guess you believe that white people are not capable of producing used diapers, dead cats and chicken shit? You are a fool that has just been caught in your own net.
I sometimes wonder why people like you would want to keep Pajaro poor and struggling by preventing big business to enter. The only thing that I agree with you on is the work ethic of some of the mexican people. Why should they only be allowed to have one type of job. Isn't this a free country? What fucking right do you have to make that decision for a hard working American. You insult the people of Pajaro by assuming that they can't make that choice.
What business would Walmart destroy? For Gods sake have a little faith in the people and stop the retoric.
