Relief for the people of Louisiana -- Is there anybody out there?

Is there anybody out there?

Who wants to go in with me to fill my van & trailer with goods to help unaided hurricane survivors in Louisiana, where I am from.
These are people who, for whatever reason, have received no aid. I have been communicating with relatives about what the people really need, i.e.

Toiletries
Personal Hygiene Items
Feminine Items
First Aid Kits
Flashlights, candles, batteries, matches
Diapers and baby wipes
Baby Formula
Children's clothing
Socks and shoes
Blankets, pillows
Lotion, Vaseline and shampoo
Aspirins, etc.

Rain Gear, rubber boots (the rainy season starts next month)

Help with GAS money to get there and back

But if we could get sufficient quantities of these items, it would be enough to adequately aid several families.

Please drop off all donated items to the town clock from:
Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday, Sept 9th-12th from 8am to 7pm.

I will be leaving on Wed. Sept 14th for Louisiana.
If there is anyone who wants to convoy please contact me.

Re: Relief for the people of Louisiana -- Is there anybody out there?

There should be someone at the Clocktower to take donations everyday from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., Friday through Monday. Please come out and help organize donations if you are available.

Please bring only new blankets, pillows and clothing. This is NOT to be snobby, it is an effort to control diseases such as Scabies that can be transferred through these items.

Other possible items to donate include:

underwear
cash cards (credit "gift" cards)
camping lanterns
large push brooms

It's really working!

Hi -

The people of Santa Cruz County (and visitors) are responding to Curtis's request. The donations are coming in and Curtis and friends will continue to accept donations through Monday.

I was down there Saturday and here is what they seems to need more of:

-rain gear
-rain boots
-formula
-diapers/wipes
-flashlights, camping lanterns, etc.
-feminine hygiene, prophylactics
-new/like new children's clothes / shoes
-new/like new men's clothes / shoes
-shop broom might be handy
-medicines

He also needs help with money for FUEL.

Other ideas if you can afford them: phone cards or (credit) gift cards.

THANK YOU! You're generosity will help a whole lot of people.

It might be useful to post the needed items list on the Santa Cruz Freecycle list, for lanterns and flashlights.
