Encampment at the White House
Countdown to Beginning of End of Bush Regime: Oct 14 to Nov 2, 2005

“19 days until the beginning of the end of the Bush Regime.? On October 14, a banner bearing this declaration will go up in front of the White House.

The World Can’t Wait - Drive Out the Bush Regime invites the public and the press to the official opening of its ENCAMPMENT at Lafayette Park in front of the White House, at 4:30pm, October 14. The encampment is a satellite of a growing national movement that is tapping into the escalating disgust with the Bush regime, and promising that November 2nd will launch a movement that does not stop until the regime steps down.

“This encampment is a premonition. Soon, all the pent-up anger and outrage – of the hundreds of thousands of Black people betrayed during Katrina, of the millions of women who refuse to give up abortion, of the immigrants who have been demonized and rounded up, of the majority that is fed up with the lies and lies and lies – will come forward in a movement to drive Bush out. On November 2nd, it begins,? says Sunsara Taylor, an initiator of World Can’t Wait—Drive Out the Bush Regime.

The Call has gone out for November 2nd: No Work, No School, Gather in the downtowns and town squares, and set out from there. World Can’t Wait – Drive Out the Bush Regime, launched less than 3 months ago, has organizers in nearly 50 cities, and is running ads all week on Air America radio.

World Can't Wait – Drive Out the Bush Regime says that 2006, much less 2008, is too late. From their Call: "The Bush regime is setting out to radically remake society very quickly, in a fascist way, and for generations to come... People who steal elections and believe they're on a 'mission from God' will not go without a fight. There is not going to be some savior from the Democratic Party..."

This Call has been signed by thousands including Cornel West, Howard Zinn, Sunsara Taylor, Michael Eric Dyson, Not in Our Name, Code Pink, writer Russell Banks, dancer Bill T. Jones, Tom Ammiano of SF Board of Supervisors, poets Suheir Hammad and Saul Williams.

A Counter-Briefing will be held on-site everyday day at noon, where World Can't Wait representatives and special guests will deliver The Reason of the Day to drive out the Bush regime. Themes: NO Theocracy; NO Genocide (a salute to October 14/15 to the Millions More gathering on the Mall); NO Intolerance (a celebration of gay marriage); NO Forced Motherhood; NO Suppression of Science & Destroying the Environment, and more. It will be videotaped, and a webcast will be available at
