World AIDS Day Vigil & Reception (12/1)

Hello!

December 1st is World AIDS Day. The Santa Cruz AIDS Project, in remembrance of those who have lost their lives to AIDS and those who live bravely with the disease every day, is hosting a Candlelight Vigil at the Jamba Juice Plaza in downtown Santa Cruz at 7pm.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Santa Cruz AIDS Project, you are cordially invited to attend the reception promptly following the Vigil. Hosted by SCAP Board Member Rob Watson, there will be light refreshments and a brief presentation on SCAP's current successes and goals. Please join us at Café Limelight, 1016 Cedar Street in downtown Santa Cruz. The reception is from 7:45 - 9:30.

thanks for organizing this. i would like to add that aids is a man-made disease, most likely made in the labs of u.s. armed forces sponsored labs. there is much circumstantial evidence to support this and scientists outside of the u.s. support this position. do some research and decide for yourself. either way, we need to do all we can to support those that are living with this and other related diseases.

i saw people with world aids day signs walking up and down pacific ave on thursday evening at about 6. no candles were lit because it was raining.

Me and my girlfriend went to the vigil. It was moved inside the Vet's Hall because of the rain. There was about 50 people crammed into a smallish room. The group held candles while listening to a few musicians and names of their loved ones who have lost the fight against AIDS were read. The feeling of being there was much like the rain showering down outside, but it was good to be with other folks who have been affected by this epidemic.

What? Prove it. I love the conspiracy theories that float around Indymedia these days. Show me one credible report before you come around with such drivel.

the aids project is a joke! I heard the ed stormed out last week because his 2 friends quit! It is very sad that an agnecy that once did such great work was destroyed by one self-interested man. Now he is (finally) gone and those remaining are left to clean up his disaster. Unfortunately he will not suffer, the only victims here are us, the community.
