Anti-Corporate X-mass Caroling & Santa Brawl on the Mall December 8, 11 and 14

OK, OK! Oh Lord! I tried, I tried- to hold back! No proselytizing on Buy Nothing Day this year. Stayed away from the Hometown Holiday Parade. Till I thought I'd kicked the habit. I kept trying to hold back my Commie-pinko-politico, neo-funky, x-mass tirade but DANG! Snow Night is just around the corner (in ol' SC) and I've been up all night in an XXX-Mass frenzy!!!
I can't hold back any longer. So here goes!...
Artists & Revelers, Singers & Musicians... and disgruntled sweatshop elves, We know Santa may be the Anti-Christ, the Red Menace, the Devil Incarnate and The Pied Piper of Consumerism, all-wrapped-up-as-one (Well, at least he has become an insidious consumer product promoter, remade by Hallmark). What better time to remake and retake the pagan roots of the Xmas spirit?

3 Anti-Corporate X-Mass Caroling dates:

Thursday Dec 8th 5-7pm Meet downtown in front of the GAP (for Snow Night!)

Sunday Dec 11th 1-3pm on Pacific Ave (meet in front of the GAP) Caroling, but the Santa Brawl On the Mall* will happen at some point between 1:30 and 3pm *(more info below).

Wednesday December 14 4pm (at the Farmer's Market, then on to the mall).

* Santa Brawl- on the Mall at approx. 1:30 PM Sunday Dec. 11
Anyone who has a Santa or Santa-esq Suit is welcome to join in our festive/playful anti-consumerist battle. Exorcize (and exercise) those inner demons! Come out o' the closet! Join the Territorial Santa Claws! Beware the red menace!

Followed by more re-written Xmass Carols.

Note: We'll supply you with Song-sheets and Hot tea. Dress warmly. We encourage your participation-getting there at the beginning of the performance is best- especially if we decide to stroll up the Mall. But, you can join us at any point. Wear red and/or green if possible, garlands, red long-johns or any Xmas themes are welcome. Feel free to pass this on to others who may be interested.

To those who've sung Anti-Corp XXXmas Carols before, you know it's inherent and irreverent joy!

Re-making those dusty old traditions and working them into a living, breathing.... frenzy?!! If you've never been lucky enough to sing them before, or if you just can't join us for our revelry- you should take time out of your busy shopping schedule and check them out...See yew(trees) in the Streets
with Artists & Revolutionaries!
Tis the season for re-claiming!

Latecomers- if we aren't at the GAP when you arrive-(we have a tendency to
run late too!) if you are more than 30 minutes late- look for us anywhere between Borders (New Leaf) and Urban Outfitters (Cinema 9).

Wear: Warm clothing, scarves and hats. RED and/or Xmass themed if possible.
I'll supply hot tea and/or cider. Let me know what you think of these dates. Stay tuned for additional times. Any ideas re XXXmas Caroling at the Capitola Mall? On an evening or weekend? We had a good, but brief, performance there 2 years ago
.
If you have any ideas, thoughts, input, songs to add, etc. e-mail

PS: This will be our 6th year of Anti-Corp Xmass Caroling! We'll have copies to loan you at the rehearsals and performances but, if you'd like to organize your own XXmass caroling gathering- there's a downloadable booklet with most of our favorite Anti-Corp Xmass carols at our very own RCNV:

My personal faves: God Bless you Very Wealthy Men, Winter Wonderland and Let it Snow are great tunes in and of themselves. Let me know if you find any other sources.
