PALESTINIAN TRADE UNION TOUR

Saturday 11-30
10am, Brunch at the Resource Center for Non Violence at
515 Broadway
7pm, Presentation and discussion at SEIU 415,
517 Mission St.
The Palestine General Federation of Trade Unions
(PGFTU) represents 75% of the work force in Israel and
Palestine. Due to the Intifada and the Israeli
occupation, the Palestinian West Bank and Gaza Strip
are experiencing a catastrophic economic situation.
The PGFTU is working to provide basic needs to men,
women and children suffering the impact of military
occupation, unemployment, lack of access to health
care, education and housing, as well as providing
legal assistance.

Later this month a delegation from the PGFTU will be
touring the US and will be in Santa Cruz for two
meetings on Saturday 11-30. The delegation will
consist of two leaders of the Legal Affairs Dept. and
one woman from the Women's Affairs Dept. The purpose
of the tour is to provide information about the
conditions of Palestinian workers and to network with
unions and community groups to work in solidarity.

Bring friends, family and colleagues to two meetings
in Santa Cruz:

1) Sat. 10am, Brunch at the Resource Center for Non
Violence at

515 Broadway

2) Sat. 7pm, Presentation and discussion at SEIU 415,
517 Mission St.

Both events are by donation.
**********************************

On the small amount of land that the poor,
oppressed, and exploited Palestinian people were
offered they would have little to base an economy and
in fact would remain dependent on the Zionist
bourgeoisie for jobs much as blacks in Apartheid South
African Bantustans were dependent on the white
bourgeoisie for employment. With anti-Arab hatred and
discrimination prevalent among Israeli employers this
is not at all an attractive proposal for most
Palestinians.
