Affinity Group and Direct Action Fair
Bring friends, family, and other trusted folks for a picnic and workshops on direct action and affinity group organizing. It's this SUNDAY, March 9th at the San Lorenzo Park. Meet at the Duck Pond @ 12 noon.

---Workshop Descriptions:---
Affinity group structure and organization:
Learn about this autonomous, decentralized organizational strategy through it's history, recent examples, comparisons of different models and discussion of its usefulness and implementation.
Security Culture:
"The first duty of a revolutionary is to get away with it." -Abbie Hoffman
This workshop will focus on how to "get away with it" without destroying your community ties. How to defend against state surveillance and subversion of your political activities.
Legal Information:
This workshop will focus on what to do if you've failed to follow Abbie's dictum (above) and get apprehended by the police, including what to say in detention, what NOT to say, your legal rights, and more. Includes role playing.
Messaging and media:
If, when and how to get your message out, through independent or mainstream media.
Radio and Internet Communications:
Securely and effectively planning and coordinating action within your affinity group with the help of radio and internet communications.
Action Medical Training:
How to deal with injuries andensure well-being while on the streets, including dealing with chemical agents used by law enforcement and trauma from police batons, rubber bullets, etc.
Strategic non-violence training:
How to deal with mass-arrest scenarios, whether planned or not, during non-violent direct actions.
Surviving radical demonstrations:
More militant or confrontational tactics for dealing with police lines, taking and holding public space, escaping injury and arrest, etc.
Food Not Bombs will also be serving.
