Santa Cruz vigils are to begin at 7 p.m. at the Santa Cruz Clock Tower, the Santa Cruz Lighthouse on Westcliff, the Capitola Esplanade, and the corner of Mill St. and Highway 9 in Ben Lomond. Responding to a call by South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu and other world religious leaders, citizens throughout Santa Cruz County will be holding candlelight vigils on Sunday, March 16. Organized over the Internet by MoveOn.org and Win Without War, the vigil is expected to begin in New Zealand and spread around the world.

Thousands of vigils in over ninety countries will take place as the evening spreads across the globe. The opinion and actions of people around the world is stopping a war before it has begun. Continued resistance here at home is generating new actions everyday to increase pressure on Bush to follow the dictates of international law.
