Silence is Consent! Civil Disobedience Now!
As soon as war begins, here in Santa Cruz we will meet
at the Town Clock at 5 p.m., followed by a march to the
County Buildings, where there will be 5 minutes of silence
followed by a rally.
Nonviolence trainings will take place there, and affinity groups will form. Opportunities for nonviolent direct action will be announced.
Dear friends,
With Colin Powell's announcement, we are moving into
high gear here at the Resource Center for Non Violence.
There are plans for a mass protest at the Military Recruiters Office on 41st Ave. and Clares St. the morning following an attack.
The Recruiters may choose to simply not be there, as they did on March 5 when we were there. Otherwise, some are planning to engage in civil disobedience to close the offices.
Others from Santa Cruz are planning to go to San Francisco to engage in nonviolent direct action to shut down the Pacific Stock Exchange in an attempt to make public
the links between the economy and the war.

We also need volunteers to help staff phones and keep
the doors open here at the Resource Center if war begins.
We will be a "convergence center" open 24 hours a day.
Nightly Iraq Action Spokescouncil meetings will take
place at 7:00pm. These meetings will involve representatives
from groups coordinating actions.
If you are not yet a part of a group, join or form one if you want your group to have input/voice in the meetings.
Anyone is welcome to come and observe, and several groups are open to having new members.
