Peace on Fire: Sustained Dissent in an Era of War
A day long event featuring participatory workshops on resisting war and an evening of cultural expressions.
On Saturday, May 17th UCSC Colleges Nine and Ten will sponser Peace on Fire: Sustained Dissent in an Era of War. Peace on fire includes two separate but important components: participartory workshops on resisting war and an evening of cultural expressions. The workshops and cultural expressions intend to bring forth unique and tangible tools for students and community members to be part of. Equally important, the cultural expression of regional poets will help draw perspective from the artist community and their role in opposing this and future wars. Some workshops include:
Military Out of Our Schools/Third World Outreach Program: Mario Africa, Central Committee for Conscientious Objectors
A National Peoples' Truth Commission on National Budget Priorities: Irbahim Ramey, Fellowship of Reconcilliation
AWOL Magazine: Revolutionary Artist Workshop: Wallidah Imarisha
