Third Annual People's March for Social and Economic Justice with the Rolling Thunder Democracy Tour

Central Coast activists come together for the Third Annual People's March for Social and Economic Justice. Headlining speakers include Jim Hightower, Arianna Huffington, and Anita Roddick.

Workshops and panels will focus on local issues including democracy and civil rights, healthcare, food, housing, environmental issues, media awareness, racism, labor and workers' rights, issues affecting women, anti-war organizing, the war and people of color.

The intention is to put words into action, to advance from simply being agitated to being organized, to strategize and encourage direct and do-able citizen actions. The theme this year is "A Call to Activism".
#file_1#The Third Annual People's March for Economic and Social Justice joins forces with The Rolling Thunder Democracy Festival, Saturday, May 17, beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the Santa Barbara Courthouse Sunken Gardens.

This years' keynote speaker, Jim Hightower, from Texas, has spent three decades battling the Powers That Be on behalf of the Powers that Ought To Be -- consumers, working families, environmentalists, small businesses, and just plain folks. He is a national radio commentator and the author of "If the Gods Had Meant Us to Vote They would Have Given Us Candidates"

In addition to Jim Hightower, you can hear rousing talks from Arianna Huffington and Anita Roddick, march in the street, attend workshops, hear great music from the Bay Area's La Paz and Vocolot, local musicians Leslie Lembo, The Away Team, performance artists, visit a book- signing tent, get a massage, and enjoy food from the Bitchin' Kitchen. There will also be arts & crafts, jugglers from the Santa Barbara Jugglers' Association, and children's activities.
