College Ten and Community Studies present:

"Zapatista Grassroots: Rebels with a Cause" at the Namaste Lounge (in the middle of the new College Ten buildings at the top of UCSC's campus near the Social Sciences buildings), an evening of discussion concerning the continuing Zapatista struggle in southern Mexico.

Featured will be two short videos by the Chiapas Media Project, "Education is Resistance" and "Women United," focusing on how the indigenous Zapatista autonomous communities in Chiapas are struggling to build a revolutionary community amid the continuing low-intensity war waged against them by the Mexican government and military and para-military groups.

In addition, speakers will provide background information on the Zapatista movement, the Chiapas Media Project and the Mexican political scene.

Expect good food, music and a generally uplifting environment for discussion!
