Last week, at a black-tie dinner for the Radio and Television Correspondents'
Association, the president gave a humorous slide show joked about not finding
weapons in Iraq. At one point Bush showed a photo of himself looking for
something out a window in the Oval Office. He said: "Those weapons of mass
destruction have got to be somewhere." There was a shot of him looking under
furniture in the Oval Office. Bush cracked "Nope. No weapons over there." This
occured just days after the anniversary of the US invasion and occupation of
Iraq in which tens of thousands of Iraqis have died and almost 600 US soldiers.
Indeed, even as the press corps had a few laughs with the president, two
soldiers were killed in a roadside bombing in Iraq. Well, today on RTB we'll
speak with Sue Niederer, the mother of US Army 2nd Lt. Seth Dvorin. The 24 y/o
LT, had been in Iraq for about five months when he was killed Feb. 3 by a
roadside bomb. We'll speak with Sue Niederer about her son's life, and death,
and get her reaction to the president's joke.....
