software blocks school access to homosexuality
May 17th was the anniversary of the passage of the Brown vs. the Board of Education Act.
This historic act declared that ‘separate is not equal’ and led to school integration.
Last week those in our Santa Cruz public schools who tried to access the Brown vs. the Board of Education web site were unable to get to it; the Santa Cruz County Office of Education had implemented software to safeguard the schools against improper materials.
What was the content that was improper for the schools?
It mentioned homosexuality.
High school librarians circulated a petition and word is that the COE webmaster is at work to change the software configuration.
