Crackdown On The Mall

On June 9th I was cited by Santa Cruz, police as I played classical harp music on Pacific Avenue. It took no less than one patrol car, two beat-officers and one very aggressive sergeant to issue this simple citation. I had no idea how scary classical music must be for the Santa Cruz police.

Downtown Ordinance Protest
A spirited rally of 150 people gathered at City Hall to express their outrage against the new downtown ordinances. Musicians, poets, chalk writers, and clowns were all in attendance. Protesters then marched down Pacific Ave. targeting those merchants who are supporting the crackdown. They then returned to city council chambers to give their input.

Since 1970, Native Americans have gathered at noon on Cole's Hill in Plymouth to commemorate a National Day of Mourning on the US thanksgiving holiday. Many Native Americans do not celebrate the arrival of the Pilgrims and other European settlers.
