Biscuit Update - Written from the Josephine County Jail

The people's movement to halt the largest logging project in modern history continues to build momentum after a dramatic week of actions and arrests. The Green Bridge over the Wild and Scenic Illinois River is the site of a growing campaign of nonviolent civil disobedience opposing Bush administration attempts to roll back decades of hard fought environmental protections. Groups and individuals across Appalachia are rising in united nonviolent protest against the increasing cultural and environmental devastation caused by this most destructive form of mining. Mountaintop removal results in loss of life, loss of employment, destruction of homes, and elimination of communities throughout the coalfields.

Instead Bredesen and his administration have flung open the door to mountain top removal mining in clear violation of the laws they swore to uphold.
