Since disaster displaced hundreds of thousands from New Orleans, I've heard much talk from self-appointed experts about what will be the fate of New Orleans residents and very little input from community members themselves. This organization is being set up as a "People's Hurricane Fund," which is organized by progressive community leaders from the New Orleans area. It is endorsed by United States Labor Against War.

Mike Rotkin has opened the possibility that a proposal to modify the sleeping/camping ban will be presented to the City Council.

What becomes obvious when a Katrina comes along is that for the many "born to lead," there is only a scant few "committed to serve."

An ongoing contract dispute between bus drivers, and Santa Cruz Metro Transit officials has reached a breaking point. Drivers have threatened to walk off the job September 8 if no deal is reached. FRSC reporter Vinny Lombardo has more. 4 minutes
