Becky: "Let me also point out that Jewish people have been at the forefront of the civil rights movement"


This is what Jeffrey Blankfort (see online), a veteran civil rights, anti-war, anti-apartheid, and anti-Zionist, pro-Palestinian human rights Jewish-American activist has said in response to the Simmons-*RABBI SCHNEIER* Op-Ed piece:

“One expects the Dubyas of this world to abuse the memory of Martin Luther King, Jr., but it has become standard practice for Jewish community leaders, who were almost totally absent from the civil rights struggle, to do so.

“In that struggle, many Jews, mostly from the left and not affiliated with any of the phony organizations that [claim to] 'represent' the Jewish community, put their lives on the line in the South during the voter registration drives of the early ’60’s and two paid with their lives.

“For these hucksters of today to use King to promote Israel's continued oppression of the Palestinians -- which is the cause of anti-Jewish hostility -- while targeting any would-be Black leader that doesn't toady to their demands, such as Cynthia McKinney and Earl Hilliard, is nothing less than obscene.�
