The US government is in an all-out information war against its population. To control (subdue) a population, you have to control the media and news sources in all respects. See Adolph Hitler's propoganda campaigns against Germany and how well they worked.
An independent source of uncontrolled, truthful information is a problem. The media, especially radio and TV is big, big business and influences millions of people per day. If you draw 10,000 for an audience, that's 10,000 to whom they can't preach the virtues of the bible-thumping, all controlling neo-cons, 10,000 without mass media marketing of unnecessary items, 10,000 not subjected to what the big 5 or six record companies call music. In short that's 10,000 more people without no gov't/corporate dictate controlling influences.
Any responsible broadcaster will make sure he sends out a clean signal as a matter of respect for other broadcasters and as a matter of self-preservation. He doesn't want interference with his signal either.
In these days of illegal gov't interference in almost every aspect of our lives, people need to hear a real voice, real information, real news, not the corporate mantra...be a good consuming citizen and follow your leaders and everything will be fine.
In these technological days, we forget that many don't have internet access and computers to download streams and read real reports of what's happening in the world.
