Whereas it is probably true that some of the settlers have engaged in illegal behavior,it is not the primary action concerning the upooting of olive groves. Both sides (Arab & Jew) recognize th principle that posession is 90% of the law therefore both sides (in Israel & the West Bank) plant groves on every available plot, often illegally. When the authorities recognize an illegal grove, they quicky remove it ...for the most part, these "ancient"groves are new plantings. Th 2nd major reason is of course clearing land that is used as cover for attacks. Since we don't sacrifice our kids (Zahal) easily, the trees go. They can always be replanted. Thats war.
