Some Islamic Imams implore followers of Islam to "kill a Jew" in order to assure their place in paradise upon their demise. This is unconcionable. In the Netherlands, a man who wrote an article critical of Islam was murdered recently--a fate similiar to that imposed on writer, Salman Rushdie, forcing him into a lifetime of hiding. There can be no real, lasting peace between Islam and the non-Islamic world while these clerics are blasting their hate speech from the Mosques to their followers.

It is common at indymedia to blame Israel for all the woes of the Palestinians. But readers ought to consider that much of the case against Israel is made up by these hate-mongoring Islamic clerics. Readers need to not accept these criticisms of Israel at face value (such as reports of the IDF maching-gunning children in the street) until they have independently researched each incident to be sure who the culpable party really is.

Also: I highly recommend www.memri.org to monitor these hate-speeches by Islamic clerics. Memri translates into English the text of these sermons. While Memri itself has been criticized for not publishing EVERY article --but only selecting the most egregious or those that are critical of Islamic practises---no one has ever accused Memri of mis-translating these texts.
