Unions are just another form of heirarchial, centralized power structure no different from the government, playing the same games, taxing people, and working for the power and wealth of the union leaders. Same as Washington DC!
I know independent contractors who have worked side by side with union laborers before, and consistently the union people are lazy, incompetent, territorial, and downright hostile. At the Staples Convention Center in LA, one friend of mine has seen union slackers consistently sit around on a job until 5pm just so they can get overtime wages. And the union leaders protect these leeches.
Everyone should work as an independent contractor. I do, and I find employers prefer dealing with me because they know Ill work hard and wont try to bully them. And on those few occasions that an employer has tried taking advantage of me, I drop him and find a new client to replace him so he's screwed.
Unions suck. Governments suck. Im glad there are no unions in my industry. I hope there never are. Now if I could just get the government off my back too.
