Good start. The faculty is trying to take some sort of control of UCSC from who is really running it now, non-faculty. Old time alum remember a time when faculty had control over much of UCSC, the colleges were actual centers of control rather than the mere service centers they are now. I notice that much of the faculty signing this letter is from the liberal arts, humanities, arts, not as much from the physical science and engineering area. I notice a concilliatory tone rather than a plea for any investigation as to how this event was conducted. Compare what Mr True is demanding and his actions to support his demands. Mr. True's is actually undergoing a hunger strike and demanding answers and accountability rather than just pleading for future understanding. I hope some faculty members will stand by Mr. True's example and step up their demands for an investigation or at least answers to the vexing events of last week!
