But we know it won't happen. Cops are too in love with the appearance of authority, even illusory federal authority. SCPD would back down against federal agents and defy the City Council, just like the Sheriffs backed down against the DEA and defied state law by allowing the raid to continue and the raiders to escape. On public highways, no less. Highway 1, highway 17, highway 101? Where was the CHP while the bandits made their getaway? Not doing their job either.

Local police aren't loyal to local government or the local public anymore, they're loyal to King George II (you know, that court-appointed so-called president who DID NOT win the popular vote?) in Washington DC. We just pay them, that's all.
