If you haven't done so yet, go out there and VOTE! It appears that most if not all of the governor's propositions will pass, though nothing is certain in elections. However, Props. 79 and 80 have the possibility of passing and could make positive change for low and middle income people.
Proposition 79 would provide drug benefits to groups to people who are on limited incomes. If you already know that rent in SC is over $700/mo. for a studio and some seniors pay over $700/mo. for drugs to keep them alive, where does that leave a senior person? You do the math.
Proposition 80 would REREGULATE the electricity utilities. As we will be facing more and more energy shortages due to peak fossil fuel production and recovery, REREGULATION of the electrical industry will most likely force the power companies into finding more sustainable sources of energy and it will also help ensure that they don't exploit energy declines for their profit.
Measures A, B and C should all be approved. They will provide for the most basic, bare-bones necessities for schools such as minimal arts and counseling programs and facilities upkeep. The great part is, no increase in property taxes for most of these measures.
There's Still Time! Most Polls Close at 8:00 pm tonight
