Solidarity to the KFC protestors for keeping up a presence at the Mission St. KFC.
Santa Cruz Animal Rights have educated me and many others about the abuses chickens suffer through KFC suppliers.
I am originally a human rights activists, but as a person who embraces justice for all living things, I have come to see the issue of animal rights as one of personal integrity. How can I claim to care only about human beings when intellectually I know that animals are animate creatures who experience pain just like us? In good conscience I cannot ignore them as if they do not exist and share this world with me.
Through the influence of some of the information I've received from animal rights groups and information I've acquired on the contamination of conventially-raised livestock, I became a vegetarian over a year ago. It was rather difficult for the first month, but after that, it got a lot easier. I don't regret it all. In fact, I feel very positive about the fact that I am actually living out my convictions.
For those who have thought about becoming vegetarian, but haven't, I encourage you to do so. There is a lot more to eat than tofu and learning about new ways to cook is an adventure in itself. Plus you save some animals and our environment!
Thanks for keeping up the message
