Re: WIN: Special Election Feature

This is becoming a flame war not related to the elections but answer your previous post one last time.

I said before I have my own version of the term Chicano, that’s my business. How you wish to define the term is your choice.

“Chicanismo, as it came to be known, marked a transformation in the way Mexican Americans thought about themselves, enabling them for the first time to see themselves as a community with a past, present, and future." This portion of your post I happen to agree with. The methods to bring about a better Chicano community we differ. The level the community is involved, or demanded by it, we will probably disagree. I tend value the rights of the individual versus that of the community.

“We are still a people confused in a land materialism and greed. These are part of man’s true nature. He is partly a territorial and material creature.

Tezcatlipoca was the Aztec god of night and all material things. He carried a magic mirror that gave off smoke and killed enemies, and so he was called "god of smoking mirror." He was god of the north. As lord of the world and the natural forces, he was the opponent of the spiritual Quetzalcoatl, and sometimes appeared as a tempter, urging men to evil. Punishing evil and rewarding goodness, he tested men's minds with temptations, rather than trying to lead them into wickedness. He was also god of beauty and war, the lord of heroes and lovely girls. He once seduced the goddess of flowers, Xochiquetzal, wife of the god Xochipilli, because such a lovely goddess was a good match for him, being a handsome war-like god. Yet he appeared most frequently as a magician, a shape shifter and a god of mysterious powers (www.pantheon.org/articles/t/tezcatlipoca.html)

“ Our schools are still in terrible conditions.

This is largely due to lack of funds, not to mention discipline. Those kids that do not wish to have an education, throw them out, they are nothing but a disruption to those that wish to learn. Concentrate on the positive ones eliminate the others.

“ Police brutality is still rampant, the prisons are full with Black and Brown people,

The problem here is that these particular brown and black people are not to free to prey on the innocent members of the barrios and hoods. The problem is that whites get away with too much crap, like re-releasing the scum back into our neighborhoods. Once again “eliminate the negative, concentrate on the positive Help to lock up or execute all trash. Did our ancestors tolerate criminals? It would interesting to find out, since Chicano studies professors tend to avoid the issue. Wouldn’t the money spent to house trash be better spent on the citizens through job training and education?

“and we continue to be the minority not only in politics but also in higher education. To be a Chicano is to fight for social justice and to empower your community.

Tell me, what are you doing to uplift your community? “

During the nineties I help register our people and others to become citizens. This org is known as the central coast citizenship project (partnered with southwest voter registration).

I helped infiltrate SOS. The reason there was a Baldwin park II was due to in part by conservative and liberal Chicanos working together to bring action to the racist group. This one is a work in progress since SOS is still around.

I have and continue to retrofit computers for our kids and even helped the very few left wing orgs that are REALLY making a difference, providing them with tools to compete in education and in the workforce.

Am I not contributing in my own way? What have u done?

“In addition, Chicanismo has nothing to do with communism, that to is a European ideology. Chicanismo is indigenous. Ironic given the number of Chicano lefties following the path of Marxism (psst Karl Marx. White dude).
