Dec 14th Protest results and Dec 15th happenings

Capitola, CA, Saturday Dec 14th, 2002. The Peace Coalition
(www.santacruzpeacecoalition.org) gathered at the corner of 41st Ave and Clares
for a two hour long sign holding session. The protest started at noon and the rain held off
until 1:30 PM. Various signs read “Peace on Earth” , “Honk For Peace”, “Greed is
Terrorism”, “Don’t Bomb Iraq Or Anyone Anymore” and advocated buying union made
and avoiding buying products made in sweatshops. Christmas hats were worn by various
individuals. There were lots of honks from passing cars. A traditional Santa character
also appeared and supplied the gathering with anti-war flyers.

The next day at the Capitola Mall, Art and Revolution did some anti-corporate Christmas
Caroling. Grant Wilson brought the jackets for people to wear. The plainclothes security
shadowed them the whole time. One vending cart owner asked them to stand in front of
his cart. They got a good reception from the people walking by. But the security asked
them to leave after 3 or 4 songs. They marched out of the Mall still singing and went over
to Trader Joes. At least it wasn’t raining.

Some of the songs were taken from the following internet sites:
