effective peace gathering

I think it's wonderful that Santa Cruz is a very progressive, community of 'thinkers' and has a history of being motivated to take action on certain issues that effect us locally, nationally, and internationally. One thing that gets me though is that it's pretty normal and accepted for me to openly display that I'm against the war on Iraq, and that I didn't vote for Bush right here in Santa Cruz. But when I step back into my hometown of Salinas, it's a whole different story. I feel like the majority of people there either don't care because their not informed about their current issues, or that I'm looked at as a traitor to my country. So be it, I say, that's not what bugs me. What bugs me is that I think, and wish, that if we're going to rally and take a stand against this war, we should be doing in places where it's most unpredictable and unexpected. Wouldn't it be great if we could get people to organize in places like Watsonville, Modesto, Salinas, Gonzales, Soledad? I know this would take alot of work, but hey, it's a thought.
