I just spoke to Gary Lasky, Safeway picket coordinator for Santa Cruz County and SEIU Local 415 Home Care. Apparantly there is a tentative agreement in the works. There is supposed to be a vote of the workers on Sunday. Taking down the pickets is a sign of good faith in the negotiations. I still say "DON'T SHOP SAFEWAY" but for deeper reasons than the management's treatment of workers. I hope the employees get what they need, but I also hope they back me in my struggles!
