Fortunately the IDF took aerial photos of the incident in which 8 people were killed in a protest march in Rafah. The aerial photos do NOT show 3 shots fired into the crowd of people.

The film shows the march proceeding towards the war zone and area under curfew. A breakaway march of about 100 people went forward into the war zone. Some eyewitness accounts say there were armed gunmen mixed into the group while other accounts say they were unarmed. Accounts by the protesters say that a group of children was marching at the front of the march.

So the Palestinian organizers purposely sent children at the front of the march directly into a war zone violating curfew.

The IDF reports (and the aeriel photos prove) that the tanks fired several shots into a vacant field across the path of the demonstrators in order to deter them. The film shows a single explosion struck the group causing the deaths. It is unclear from the video if the shot came from the Israelis or from a booby-trap bomb the Palestinians had mined the road with in order to stop the IDF. The IDF has issued a statement of deep regret for the loss of civilian life and theorized an Israeli shell may have richochetted killing the group, but the matter is still under investigation.

We must consider the possibility that the organizers of the protest purposely sent children into harm's way, hoping they would be killed or injured for the propaganda effect that would have.
