The FBI Took the Hard Drives of IMC Servers in the UK

The FBI issued an order to Rackspace in the US (Indymedia's provider with offices in the US and London) to remove physically two of our servers. The order was so short term that Rackspace is believed to have handed over two machines in the UK.
The servers hosted numerous local IMCs. If you find a site is down: that might be the reason
The reason why the hard drives were taken are unknown.

Indymedia Under Attack
The FBI issued an order to Rackspace (Indymedia's provider with office in the US and London) to remove physically the servers. The order was so short term that Rackspace had to give away our machines, both in the US and the UK.
The servers hosted numerous local IMCs: the Belgian and African imcs, Palestine, UK, Germany, and Brasil.
The reasons for this are not known.

Portland Indymedia breaking news - October 7
12:14PM PDT: affected imc's include, but are not limited to: euskalherria, nice, basque, nyc, antwerpen, wmass, uk, andorra, poland, uruguay, radio.uk, italy, ambazonia, germany, www, brasil
12:27PM PDT: UC IMC has posted a feature with more details here.
4:48PM PDT: Global Indymedia has a feature up here with some more infortation. The subpoena has not been seen nor is the ISP talking, possibly due to a gag order, so currently little is known.
5:32PM PDT: Infoshop has information that Rackspace, the ISP, is indeed under a gag order about the seizure. They also mention that the request did come from Swiss authorities.
5:37PM PDT: To clarify, it appears that Swiss authorities contacted the US FBI to seize equipment in the UK which was running a French imc website, possibly for containing pictures of undercover Swiss police.
