Death Penalty Focus holds Candlelight Vigil for Anderson's Execution

10 activists convened at the clock tower in downtown Santa Cruz from 8p til midnight to hold a candlelight vigil for confessed killer Stephen Wayne Anderson as he was scheduled for execution at San Quentin prison just north of San Francisco, California.

HUFF activists, Robert Norse and Daniel Hopkins filed two complaints against the excessive and unreasonble noise in the form of classical music being pumped out over a loudspeaker to "discourage gathering" at the planter area in front of New Leaf Market between Sushi Now! and Ali Baba's Cafe on Pacific Avenue.

Santa Cruz participates in the National Day of Remembrance and the reading of the names of the homeless people who have died in the past year....Mayor Christopher Krohn and his mother attended the ceremony and read a prepared statement. They left quickly, even before the reading of the names. No other member of the Santa Cruz City Council attended.

An injury to one is an injury to all! Animals are the largest oppressed group. There will never be social justice or peace on earth as long as humans wage war upon the animals. Sexism, racism, homophobia, economic oppression and all other human vs human cruelty is rooted in the abuse of animals.
