WHO: Santa Cruzans for Responsible Development, a local grassroots organization, backed by former Santa Cruz Mayors who will be present and other community notables;
WHAT: Will participate in a news conference to announce the official kickoff for a community-wide referendum campaign to halt the single largest development since the University: the 270 room hotel, 6-level parking garage, 23,000 square foot Conference Center project. Brief statements will be made by special invited guests, media packets will be available, and questions from the news media will be taken;

EDO MBM threatens IMC UK: "You can't call us warmongers"

On Friday morning the following letter was sent by email to IMC UK's contact address, threatening libel action over the suggestion that EDO:
(a) are warmongerers;
(b) are complicit in the deaths of innocent people; and
(c) make things that kill children.

Organizers Who Monitor Police Activities Arrested
Update: "
Malcolm X Grassroots Movement Members Arraigned"
Three members of the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement,
Lumumba Bandele, Desaw Floyd, and Djbril Toure were
arrested in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn
just past midnight this morning. At the time of their
arrest, the three were engaged in the legal monitoring
of police activities as part of the Malcolm X
Grassroots Movement Copwatch Program.
