Cheney Continues to Violate Law on Energy Policy Task Force

Dick Cheney has continued to cloak the composition of his 2001 energy task force in secrecy. The Federal Advisory Committee Act says the government must disclose the work of groups that include non-federal employees. A lawsuit is pending to force disclosure. Jane Mayer of The New Yorker suggests that the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were planned well in advance of the September 11th crisis - planned for the benefit of US oil corporations headquartered in Texas

Bush Never Dreamed of Iraq Elections: and Deserves No Credit

5 Years ago, George W, Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, Douglas Feith, and their neo-conservative cadre were spoiling for war with Iraq.
Democratic elections were not a goal of the US invasion and are now being used as a smokescreen for yet another phase of deepening US involvement.
It was the powerful cleric Ali al-Sistani who first pressed the issue - and then as part of an exit strategy for the US.

Revolutionaries, reporters and film crews assembled on Friday morning for a "Press Conference and Anti-Inaugural Banquet." It was held near Howard University at Café Manowaj, a cool and funky hang-out run by a crew of radical South Africans. Steaming breakfast dishes (named for people’s heroes and historical highpoints) soon appeared. Indymedia and RW reporters tended to order Amandla eggs. The Fox-5 TV guy was all over the Paris Commune French Toast. (His footage of our red-flag-filled cowboy-hat stomping made the 5 o’clock news that night.)

At this very moment millions of people are being seduced into going for simple, good-versus-evil answers to the agonizing and growing complexities of the world. They are consumed with the coming Judgment Day, the return of Jesus, Armageddon, the Rapture.
