As the Bathroom Inspectors returned to the gathered crowd, several noticed that the RCNV-produced flyer for the events continuing all weekend was posted in the guard house (occupied by Pinkerton Security, a notorious firm responsible for strike-breaking in the past).
The flyer had been defaced, however, to read "Why should we care about Lockheed-Martin? *Because you have no life*"and next to the Hiroshima Anniversary information, the words *Yee-Hah! Good ol' Boy.*
Lockheed-Martin's Public Relations man pointed out that the security guards were not employees of L-M, but the damage had been done: the public had had enough PR.
Definitely NOT an indymedia camera...
The Bathroom Inspectors were again locked out and the group proceeded as planned, hanging photos and art on the fence and offering thoughts and reflections on nuclear war and its effects on the global community. At the end of each statement, the group recited a line from Saul William's Pledge of Resistance:
"Another world is possible, and we pledge to make it real."
Finally, the inspectors, turned away by L-M's PR man, headed back to Santa Cruz. On earlier visits, L-M officials refused to even speak to the SC WIT, now they've engaged in conversation, if contrived, and PROMISED to continue negotiation and dialogue. Next time the WIT comes up the road, perhaps we will finally pass the guard house and enter Lockheed's mountain top fortress.
Dave, the PR man, hopped in his hot rod
and sped down the mountain, back to his L-M office where everyone *believes* his nice words about safety, responsibility, accountability, and peace.
"We're gonna trouble Lockheed-Martin"
Thanks to all the Inspectors, to Art & Revolution, and to the RCNV. Activities marking the anniversary of the Nuclear bombings continue all weekend long...
